The idea of extending Higher Education to the students of the locality was conceived first by many conscious guardians of the locality in the early years of the 90’s. The prominent citizen of the locality like Shri Bahadur Behera, Sri Hrushikesh Mishra, Sri Chandramani Mishra, Sri Jugalal Biswal and some other social thinkers had visualized to setup a college at Dunguripali. The then Hon’ble MLA Sri Chitta Ranjan Mishra and the then Collector and District Magistrate of Bolangir S Kumar had come forward to materialize the dream. 
              Accordingly , Dunguripali College with Arts subject was inaugurated in 1984. The foundation stone of the college building was laid by √ Shri J B Patnaik . the then Hon’ble chief minister of Orissa . In 1986 the said building was inaugurated by √ Shri V Mishra the Hon’ble Member of Parliament (LS). Initially the college was functioning in M.E. School ,Dunguripali for two years. Later on in 1986 it began to work in its own building.
